The Israel/Palestine Reader is qualitatively different from existing collections by Walter Laqueur, Yehuda Lukacs, and John Norton Moore-standard works that offer mostly political and diplomatic documents along with some analytical articles. Dowty has done a fine job of selection and editing, allowing this volume to also be read as a stand-alone anthology. But The Israel/Palestine Reader can handily be used as a companion to add depth and nuance to any introductory text on the conflict. This volume of 50 selected readings was conceived as a companion to Alan Dowty's Israel/Palestine (fourth ed., Polity, 2017) and is smartly cued to the structure and contents of that popular short introduction. ![]()
